About this company
Quinta do Carneiro, a property in Alenquer, between the slope of Montejunto and the right bank of the Tejo river. The name is due to one of its owners, his excellence the Count of Lumiares with the surname Carneiro e Sousa. It is located on the edge of the wine-growing area of the municipality of Alenquer, from where you can see the landmark of the seventh league of the Mala-Posta road, just one kilometer from the property. Between the 18th and 19th centuries the farm was mainly dedicated to the production of table grapes and grapes for wine production. The vineyard occupies 42 hectares and produces about 300 thousand liters of wine per year. The winery is located in the middle of the vineyards, which allows for a short time between the grape harvest and crushing, preventing the start of any unwanted fermentation. Over the years, this property has passed through the hands of several owners, but before, during the 19th century it is known that it had strategic importance as it served as a resting place for the royal family between their travels. About 4 years ago Quinta do Carneiro changed owners and we started a whole change…
