Ferris & Fletch Wine Co. — 2023 La Pradera Vineyard Tannat

Hand-harvested from the La Pradera Vineyard in the Texas High Plains, our 2023 Tannat is a bold yet gracefully expressive wine. At Ferris & Fletch Wine Co., we believe in small-lot precision and letting vineyard character shine through. From canopy to cellar, every step is guided by balance, finesse, and a deep respect for both fruit and site.

We fermented this Tannat in open-top fermenters with gentle punch-downs to preserve aromatics while extracting structure. After primary fermentation, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels (with a percentage of new oak) for extended aging, allowing integration of oak and fruit, and rounding out firm tannins.

This wine displays beautifully balanced density: deep garnet color, a rich yet transparent mid-palate, and aromatics of dark berries, graphite, violet, and subtle spice. Flavors of black plum, boysenberry, and dark cherry are framed by a backbone of fine-grained tannin and lively acidity. The finish is long, persistent, with echoes of dark fruit, mineral, and gentle oak spice.
