At the end of the 19th century, in the city of Colón, the Wong Chang family founded a company identified as Warehouse 99, which was dedicated to the hardware and sewing trade. Subsequently and progressively moved their activities to the city of Panama, where they established their general management gradually opening new premises with the same name.

Years later and in the financial and banking relationship of the 99 warehouses, a link was established with Mr. Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal, who was the account executive of these warehouses at Citibank. Due to the excellent professional career of this executive, he was offered in 1981 the position of administrator of the warehouses 99, starting from this date, a stage of changes in commercial policy and in his own administration, becoming more efficient and introducing the first time the concept of food sales.

It is at this moment when the SUPER 99 is born, a commercial concept introduced by the Licdo. Martinelli. By changing the structure and service that was previously provided, by a service that projected to the consumer a typification according to the characteristic of a supermarket with the best products and the best prices.
