We are a small wine producers Website http://www.zaloscan.si You can write me on my e-mail deadami@zaloscan.si ; anton.slejko@siol.net skype: slejko.borut Best regards Borut Slejko How to get there • If you arrive at Zalošce from Dornberk, cross the Vipava River and turn left at the second intersection. If you arrive from Batuje, turn right at the second intersection before crossing the river. After mister De Adam • The Zalošcan Wine Cellar, owned by the family of Anton Slejko, markets its wines under the well-established brand De Adami. It received its name from the venerable Mr. De Adam Klemše, who lived in Zalošce in the 16th century and whose interesting life is still the source of many tales in the oral tradition of these parts. The cellar is named after the town Zalošce, which is nestled in the very heart of the lower part of the fertile and green Vipava Valley. It receives grapes from the family’s own vineyards and also purchases them from fi ve co-operators, all of which grow grapes according to the nature-friendly principles of integrated crop production. From the cellar, fourteen still varietal wines and blends venture into the world. This colourful palette personifi es the wine portrait of the Vipava Valley. Breathing a soul into the wine • Wines sold under the brand De Adami are gentle, fruity, fresh and drinkable. The Slejkos maintain that the older vintages continue to reach the very top, and off er proof in the form of over a hundred gold and silver medals from international wine competitions in Ljubljana, Gornja Radgona and elsewhere. Their champion variety is Merlot, favoured by the family not only because its current vintages bring them a great deal of joy, but also owing to its still lively and thus excellent archive samples. Their other wines are also marked by the infl uence of the excellent sites and soil on which the vineyards grow, minimum yields, favourable climate, and above all the family’s attentive care, dedication to the land and the vines, and respect of tradition. These are wines into which the fi fth successive generation of the Slejko family breathes the soul that rounds out their distinctive characters. Thus their success depends not only on the roots of the vines but also on the roots of the family, which grow from Venceslav to Anton and from him to Borut, all the way to the youngest generation. Duties and tasks are arranged so that Anton’s wife Božena watches over the vineyards, his sons Borut and Mitja, with his assistance, take care of mechanized work, winemaking and sales, while his daughter Mojca manages the fi nancial aspects of the company. The children are already following in their parent’s footsteps. Teaching by example, the family shows them how to treat vines with love and wine with the respect it deserves.
