Harvey Nichols bottles Burgundy cask-aged whisky

Retailer Harvey Nichols has released just 280 bottles of a peated Burgundy cask-matured English whisky as part of its own-label range.

03/01/2020

Created in partnership with The English Whisky Company, the limited edition, single cask expression was made under the leadership of master distiller Iain Henderson, who has worked at Ardbeg and Laphroaig in the past.

The whisky has been peated to 38ppm (phenol parts per million) and fully matured for 12 years in a 250-liter, first-fill Pinot Noir cask from Burgundy.

Tasting notes include toasted nuts, sesame seeds, dried fruit, Christmas spices, dark chocolate, and smoked chillies.

Bottled at 51% ABV, Harvey Nichols Peated Burgundy Cask Single Barrel English Whisky is available in-store and online, priced at RRP £110 (US$145) per 700ml.

Nick Bell, the spirit buyer at Harvey Nichols, said: “We are incredibly excited to launch our first ever own-label English whisky. Possibly the oldest English whisky on the market, we have been eagerly waiting to launch it into stores since I helped bottle it last month.

“Yielding just 280 bottles, this single barrel whisky was distilled in 2007 and cannot be reproduced, making it a real rarity.”
